The Gesture of Consciousness

The most common yoga mudra used in meditation is Jnana Mudra or Gyan Mudra. Jnana is a Sanskrit word that means knowledge. Touch the tip of your index finger to the root of your thumb and turn your palm toward the root chakra. For the easy adaptation of this mudra, keep your wrists loose on your knees. Progress by letting the tip of the index finger touch the tip of the thumb before seeking mechanical pressure from the base of the thumb. Keep the other fingers straight or at least not touch the thumb and index finger. This mudra is also called the Psychic Gesture of Knowledge.

YOGA: This is another powerful gesture that can be used in meditation. The circuitous transfer of energy through body parts before going into the environment is the main concept that activates the "root chakra" or "Muladhara chakra" and then the swadhishtana chakra. Knowing and mastering the creation of oneself is the main use of this mudra. This is a pranic channel called a Nadi called "Gupta Nadi" from the knees, and thighs to the root chakra. Thus, this mudra helps to awaken the "Kundalini". The practitioner gains intuitive knowledge.

TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE: The lung meridian on the thumb and the colon meridian on the index finger is balanced in their functions. The lungs are used to purify the blood by exchanging oxygen and carbon dioxide. The large intestine serves to absorb micronutrients such as water, minerals, and vitamins in the blood or is retained for excretion through the anus and anus.

MODERN MEDICINE: Sensations through the median nerve connect with the homunculus in the sensory and motor areas of the brain. The thumb and index have a larger area for awareness. The transport of the action potential for some time limits other flows or thoughts in the limbic system. This exercise reduces stress.

AYURVEDA: The diversion of digested material in the large intestine can be diverted to either "Vyana Vayu" which circulates the blood or "Apana Vayu" which clears the anus. Ayurveda says that the Index is a representation of air and the thumb is fire. These help in balancing Vata, Pitta, and Kapha compositions.
