If you would like to know more about these amazing animals, read on.
I have recently been reading about animals and found out that in addition to being our best friends, they save lives every day and have taken their place in law enforcement and healthcare such as:
POLICE DOGS:
Have you seen police dogs riding in police cars? They are true partners of the police department. They wear badges on their collars that they are part of the police department.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
(1) They help their partner in catching criminals.
(2) They are used at borders and airports to sniff packages to find drugs, dynamite, and chemicals.
(3) They are used in search and rescue missions - tracking missing people and reuniting them with their loved one
(4) They are used to find people buried in deep snow
(5) They are used in the military for guarding gates, surveillance, and drug smuggling.
The 5 duties I mentioned above may not be performed by Police Dogs, but by other dogs that are in security work.
DOGS IN HEALTHCARE:
SEEING EYE DOG:
The most visual is Seeing Eye Dogs. We have all seen them on the streets, in shops and cinemas. These amazing dogs are usually German Shepherds and Retrievers. Other breeds are also used, but these are the most intelligent. Seeing-eye dogs are usually raised in a family unit.
These are working dogs. When in harness, they only think of their owner. They have different jobs, e.g.
(1) They ensure that their owner walks without tripping and falling.
(2) They get their owners up and down stairs.
(3) They ensure that their owner walks across the street.
Their owners love them for their great achievements and for their companionship. When off-leash, these dogs frolic and play like normal dogs.
SERVICE DOGS:
Service dogs are trained to:
(1) Push wheelchairs.
(2) Remove the clothes from the washing machine.
(3) Help their owners dress by picking up their clothes from the floor and placing them on your lap.
(4) They can open and close doors. This makes the owner more independent.
HEARING IMPAIRMENT:
They can also help the hearing impaired. When the phone rings, they can let their owner know by sitting in front of the owner and barking as the phone flashes. There the owner either hears them barking or sees them barking. After the dog catches its owner's attention, they go to the phone. Their owners love and appreciate these special dogs so that they wouldn't be able to function every day, something you and I take for granted.
DETECT CANCER:
Some dogs can smell a person and smell cancer if there is any growing inside them.
DETECT SEIZURES:
Some dogs can sense in advance when someone is having a seizure.
There are so many stories of dogs saving the lives of their owners and family members by barking and attracting the attention of their families.
GREAT COMPANIONS:
(1) He never gets tired of listening to them.
(2) They care about us.
(3) They like to go for long walks and we get the necessary exercise in return.
(4) They believe in us
(5) When you have a dog it is obedience trained and you tell it to sit, it sits. Have you ever tried telling your child to sit down? Unfortunately, children are not obedient.
(6) Dogs give us unconditional love.
(7) They save our lives.
They give us unconditional love. You can't beat that.
Many people would rather have a dog as a companion than a human. why?
Thank you for reading my article. Feel free to read any of my many articles.
